The Care We Provide

Our residents exercise choice in all aspects of their care and life.

Individual care plans are developed with resident and relative involvement, with particular emphasis placed on person centred care. The local GP practice provide a regular weekly service.

Our 24-hour care team of Registered Nurses and Care Assistants are highly skilled and trained in all aspects of care, many having attained recognised national qualifications in this field.

The Home and Facilities

The Sandford is a beautifully appointed home with a secluded, accessible garden.

Accommodation, on three floors linked by a lift, includes spacious rooms with pleasant views. Most have en-suite facilities and all are decorated and furnished to a high standard and residents may personalise them as they may prefer. Each room has its own wall mounted flat screen television and a private telephone can be arranged via BT.

A nurse call system operates throughout the building.

There are a number of specially equipped bathrooms to enable even the most frail to enjoy a comfortable and dignified bath or shower.

There is a large divided lounge providing access to our garden and a smaller area for enjoying the television. Our bright, light dining room has lovely views of the Long Mynd.

We also provide a visitors’ kitchenette and conservatory with internet access and two computer terminals.

The Cuisine

e attach great importance to food and diet and our catering staff operate to the highest standards. The home has attained platinum status in the Shropshire Healthy Eating Award Scheme, the highest available.

We offer four weekly menus, which are varied and nutritionally well balanced. The emphasis is on home cooking using the best locally sourced ingredients. We can cater for specialised diets and can accommodate individual likes and dislikes.

Activities and Daily Living

We believe a busy schedule adds contrast and colour to residents’ lives and so provide a programme of daily events.

We employ a Social Activities Co-ordinator who designs and plans a comprehensive programme of activities based upon individual interests and wishes. We also provide a hairdressing salon, visiting entertainers, exercise classes, mobile library and a video and DVD library.

There are regular outings on our specially adapted bus.

Shropshire Partners in Care Awards

In the SPIC bi-annual awards 2014 we attained the award for Infection Prevention and Control.
